Mr. George Okeyo
Mr. George Okeyo is the Managing Director of Migingo Fish Supplies Ltd. He holds BSc Fisheries, MSc in Food Science and MA in Project Planning and Management degrees. He is a certified Monitoring and Evaluation professional and Value Chain Expert with over 20 years’ experience cutting across various disciplines including managing donor funded programmes, contracting procedures for EU external actions, value chain development, Project planning and Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Research and Information Dissemination, Enterprise Development, Private Sector Experience, Food Processing and Handling, Food safety standards/regulations and agricultural technologies transfer.
George has provided Business Development Services (BDS) Support to Migingo Fish Supplies Limited, a Fish Enterprise based in Kisumu, Mombasa, Lodwar and Kakuma Kenya which he founded in 2017 as a family business. The BDS support he has provided to Migingo include marketing strategies; financial management systems; quality systems; and solicitation of capital and grants among others. The enterprise has so far experienced growth and is currently providing direct employment to 25 people with an upward trajectory in the growth of its value from US $ 46,153 in 2017 to US $ 2,692,307 currently. He has proven skills in designing, implementing and evaluating projects based on market systems approaches targeting micro and small enterprises. In his previous jobs, Mr. Okeyo has experience providing administrative, programmatic, and managerial oversight for successful implementation of a portfolio of programs worth over € 35.6 million focusing on addressing the competitiveness of the dairy, fisheries and horticulture sectors and supported by various donors (Irish Aid; Walmart Foundation; USAID, DANIDA, EU). He has worked in various development organizations including MESPT and Self Help Africa among others. During his tenure at MESPT, George was very instrumental in establishing and strengthening of Fisheries Associations specifically the Beach Management Units within the fisheries sector in Kenya. He is an experienced Quality Assurance professional having worked in an export fish processing firm for a period of 7 years. George has also served as the Chairman – BDS Donor Coordination Group (BDCG) – Network of Organisations and Practitioners Implementing Value Chain and Enterprise Development Programmes in East Africa..
